Improve your interview technique
A job interview is the time to present yourself as the best possible candidate for a position. The process need not be stressful. There are a number of ways that you can make sure that an interview goes in your favour. For utmost convenience, mentally divide your interview preparation into three stages: pre-interview, interview and post-interview. This will make the preparation process far easier and help you keep yourself organised and relaxed.
Prepare thoroughly for your interview
Make sure to do your research prior to the big day. Enter an interview armed with information about the job you are applying for, the structure of the company and its overall philosophy. By doing this, you are already putting yourself miles ahead of the competition. This level of preparation reflects the same attention to research and detail that you can offer a prospective employer. It might seem obvious, but knowing your CV inside and out is crucial to performing well in an interview. Take the time to review the information you have provided the recruiter prior to meeting him or her. This will make sure you are not caught off guard during the interview.
Project confidence during your interview
Naturally, first impressions are an essential part of the interview process. Show up on time - or even early - and look your best. This means being well rested, well-groomed and well dressed. Have a look at the company's website to get a feel for what attire is deemed appropriate in the given workplace and attempt to imitate.
Projecting an air of confidence is key during the interview. If you believe you are the best candidate, there is a much better chance that your interviewer will believe that too. It is important, however, to not be over-confident. Appearing arrogant or condescending will not win you any points. Wherever you feel your greatest strengths are, try to bring them into the forefront whenever possible
Leave a lasting impression post-interview
Finally, make sure to leave on a good note. Thank your interviewer for his or her time. Make sure that all your details are correct so that they can contact you. Thank any other staff that helped during your interview, from the receptionist to the assistant who lead you to the interview room. The more favourable impressions you can make in an interview the better.
